Michael UDDER-1709-NY

Among the German Palatines who came to NY State in 1709:

Roman Catholics Returned to Holland in 1709:

Michael UDDER, wife and 5 children

Perhaps Nicholas UTTER was one of those 5 children.

The German and Dutch Palatines were sent to NY by the Engllish Government who sponsored these German and Dutch families who had arrived in London to escape serfdom in the Palatine region, along the Rhine River.

Apparently, Roman Catholics were not welcome.

I believe that some arrival lists have been lost as Michael UDDER and his family are not the only Palatines that appeared on the return lists and the subsistence list, but cannot be found in arrival lists. Also, there is a huge list of more returnees that has never been located.
