Isaiah Bartley "Bart" Boice (& vt. spellings)
Posted by: G. Marie Boice (ID *****5875) Date: July 01, 2003 at 12:31:28
  of 75

"Bart" was born 1854 near Council Bluffs, Iowa to Josiah Boice/Boyce & Margaret Louisa Cotten, both LDS who went no further west from Winter Quarters. Isaiah Bartley, known as Bart was in Utah about 1877 as family tradition is that Josiah was with Bart when Josiah died in 1877 & his body was packed in whiskey & sent back to Nebraska by train to be buried in Cumming City [Washington Co.] Nebraska cemetery by Louisa. A portrait of Bart has a Provo studio mark and Bart is said to have "run a bicycle shop in Utah". Family tradition is that Bart died in April 1, 1886 in Montana Territy, which may or may not be true. Other Boice headstones that can be found to date are 1st cousins to Bart and the death & place info is from a memory generated life history of a great aunt by marriage. Anyone have info concerning this "Bart". Would appreciate any input anyone may have.
