My Grandmother married Warren Staley from Upton, Utah.
But there is a mystery in my family. My Great Grandmother was raised by her Grandparents and met a young man. Now this is where it gets confusing.
I was too young to ask my Grandmother her maiden name before she passed away.
In the years following I started asking my Dad and Aunts who my great Grandfather was. Two of my Aunts are Mormons and have done extensive research on the family through the church.
I have copies of the geneology they have, and would you believe it? There is a confusion of whether his name is Knute Harbolt or Knute Harbaug. So that leaves me wondering who I am looking for.
Shortly after my Great Grandmother and Great Grandfather got married, Knute left to join the service in the Spanish American War.
No one knows whether he was with Teddy Roosevelt at San Juan Hill or some other campaign. Or maybe joined the navy.
He never came home, and there is no record of his death. Most of the records were lost in the fire in Chicago. So right now I am a little lost on how to find the truth.
