On the assumption that your Mr.Taylor was born May 28,1928 and passed on April 14,1997?

Based on that birth date, he was a certain percentage Ute Indian? (I use that phrase, because where I find a Richard Donald Taylor,with that birth date in UT, is in the "US Indian Census Schedules" for the Uintah Indian Reservation. His percentage of "Indian Blood" varies in those schedules.)

In which case, it looks like he was the son of William H.Taylor Jr. and Della Brown--the Reservation census records list her with that name, which I assume is a maiden name. (I'm not familiar with how these census were conducted or recorded)And he would be the grandson of Wm.Taylor Sr. and Anna May Brown--although I'm not 100% certain of the maiden name of Anna M.Taylor.

The 1910 US census shows the family as:
Taylor,Willam H.-37;married 14yrs;born UT,father born England,mother born UT
wife-Anna M.-34; 7 children born, 5 living;born UT,father born CA,mother born UT
daughter-Anna M.jr.-13
son-William-11
daughter-Hilda-6
daughter-Jennie-4
son-Claud-2

The Reservation census records are a little murky....William Sr. is shown some years with his wife, and some years not; there was also a son Arlynn.

The 1919 Reservation census shows that William Sr. died Jan.12th of that year. In the home were William born 1900,Hilda born 1904,Jennie born 1907,Claude born 1909, and Arlynn born 1912. Next door is Anna May Jr.,born 1898,and her daughter Belle born in 1918. Next door to her is Pearl Taylor born in 1897-sister to Wm. I'm sure.

A search of UT records here:
http://historyresearch.utah.gov/indexes/index.html
found a death certificate for an Anna May Taylor in Davis Co.,UT in 1921, who looks to be the correct wife of Wm.Sr.

The Reservation census have really sad handwriting, and some don't make sense but:
the Apr.1930 one shows William Taylor Jr. age 29,with son Richard Donald age 1,brother Arlynn Taylor age 17 and niece Belle Amber Taylor age 11.
The 1930 US census shows:
Taylor,William-30;married at 28
wife-Della-31;married at 17
daughter Samora,Dorothy-13
daughter-Samora,Virginia-11
daughter-Samora,May-7
daughter, Brown,M----5;can't read name
daughter,Brown,Thelma-4
son-Taylor,Richard-2y,11m
{given the ages of the first 4 children,surnames, and the age at which Wm. says he married, likely that Della was married prior to James Samora-as found in the 1920 census,with daughters Dorothy age 4 and Virginia age 1}

Then if we look at the 1932 Reservation census;
Taylor,William Jr.-born 1900;31;5/8 Ute
Brown,Della--it shows nothing else for Della--
Taylor,Richard Donald-born May 28,1928;7/16 Ute
Taylor,Betty Loraine-born May 6,1930;1;7/17 Ute
brother-Taylor,Claude-born Aug.29,1908;23; 3/8 Ute
brother-Taylor,Arlynn-born July 27,1912;19;3/8 Ute
Niece-Taylor,Belle Amber-born May 15,1918;15
nephew-Taylor,Ernest Leroy-born Jan.10,1923;9

The 1944 reservation census shows a son Wayne Robert Taylor,and I think he was 9 in that year?
