Diane, what that says is the Marine Corp gave him an Undesirable discharge on 19 March 1941. He had went AOL after serving only seven months of his enlistment. Apparently he was up to be drafted into, very probale, the Army. Not wanting that he requested the Marine Corp. Remember it is WARTIME. So the Marine corp says if he is physical and otherwise qualified they will waiver(forget about) the undersirable discharge and take him back in the Marines. Now there should be a date on his DD214 showing him entering the Marine Corp after the date of that letter,18 Feb 1943. Then a later date of being discharged after the war ended. Hope this all fits together for you if need more info, send email to <tinacci1(that is numeral one)@gmail dot com> God Bless!
Jack
