Mercant Marine records WWI

Hi Heather; Were you ever able to locate Merchant Marine records for WWI? I am in the same situation with my grandfather--I believe he was a MM as the US Armed Forces have no record of him being in the navy or coast guard. I have his draft reg. and a photo of him in Hartford, CT wearing what I thought was a navy uniform. I have no Z or service number. Any information you may have found would really be appreciated. Your name caught my eye--my grandfather was also an Anderson.
Rebecca
