does anyone have any information on US officers been on loan to the Australian Merchant Navy to fight in New Guinea during WW2. My father-in-law Alfred James Scrivens apparently was an Officer but we can't find any info on him. He had a first mate named Pierre Dona who was his best mate and he left the navy around 1945-48 and went to NZ to live.
