Thomas C. Gregg, Fayette County, Pa--Looking for records

Hi, I am researching my Gregg ancestors of Connellsville/Dunbar Township, Fayette County, PA and came across an Orphan's Court document of Thomas C. Gregg dated September 1848. Thomas C. Gregg was "Late a Soldier in the regular army of the United States--died in Mexico while in the service...." The Orphan's Court document was assigning guardianship of his 2 children, John S. and Ann M. Gregg to his father, Thomas R. Gregg of Dunbar Township. I am looking for information on where to research to find records on Thomas C. Gregg....Thomas C. Gregg married Sarah Ann Scott...
Thank you for any help with my research!
