On April 3, 1848, Dr. Thomas Neely Lowe wrote, "More difficulty than usual in getting the sick into waggons [sic]--Liet. Amyx knocked an impudent waggoner off of his mule with his gun...."
Perhaps this was the cause of his court martial?
