I found this for Jacob Taylor in the Official Roster:

Jacob Taylor, 2d Lt., age 28, entered service June 1, 1846, for aperiod of 1 yr. He was mustered in July 2, 1846, at Cincinnati, Ohio. He was in company I of the second regiment of the Ohio Volunteer Infantry. Under remarks is written: Mustered as Private: appointed Sargeant July 12, 1846; promoted to Second Lieutenant August 27, 1846; resigned October 22, 1846. The company mustered out June 22, 1847, at New Orleans.

The introduction before the roster lists the movements and battles for this regiment, but the files are really jpgs and I can't copy and paste. If you email me direct, I can send you the roster with the page number that you would have to scroll to to get this information.

It is so nice when someone has some success finding an ancestor. Gives us hope of finding that needle in the haystack!
