It is Easton's not Eastling's. Magnify the image
In MO State Archives has Online Databases. One is"Solider's Records War of 1812 to WWI" Stephen Ruh is listed as Stephen Rua and Steven Rua. Click on database and search Rua Mexican War.

I found him by searching Easton Mexican War then went through the roster for Easton, Alton R Mexican War Infantry Battalion Missouri Volunteers.
Do an internet search of "Infantry Battalion Missouri Volunteers" and "Easton's Battalion Missouri Volunteers"
