Vet look-up - Childers
My GGGrandfather fought in this war. I unfortunately don't have his first name, but his last name is Childers. He was born in Alabama.
He did not die in the conflict, but later died around 1853-54 from either wounds sustained or a contracted illness from that war.
He married a lady in the Arkadelphia area in Arkansas, first name Nancy, middle Jane, unknown last name, and they had a daughter in 1853 named Martha E.L.Childers.
I know this is vague..I'm hoping for something that might shed some light as to his first name, where he is buried, and his parents, and what regiment he fought with.
Thanks,
Art Dubé
