My GGGrandfather- David Williams served in Company B, 4th ILL Vol. Looking for information on his unit, city or county formed in, service. He is in the 1890 Washington State Veteran Census. I am trying to obtain information to get an offical grave marker for his service. He was 18 to 20 during the Mexican War and in the spring of 1850 left MO with his wife Elizabeth Humpreys Williams, infant son - John David Williams and traveled west on the Oregon Trail - showing up with family and brother in the December 1850 Census in Oregon City (Portland). Any help would be appreciated. He is buried in the Sweat Creek Cemetary, Washington State. It is amazing the adventures that our families have had.....I wish I know about this when I was a child ...History in that time would of been special....here we have a young man with a young family that after ordeal of war....sets off on a cross country trip on the Oregon Trail.....

David Williams - California
