James, thanks for the reply.The one John Carlisle listed may be him as the birth year is the same:
Carlisle, John 28 Apr 1873 W Sussex DE
This would verify him being in the Army of Occupation in Germany during/after WWI.
The only thing that would cause me to wonder is something that his "screwed up obit" says.To quote it, it states;
"Origionaly from Succasunna NJ." How ever this obit is so messed up that who knows if that is true. How could someone be in the Mexican War, Civil War and WWI?
My mom, who is still alive, but whos memory is a tad cloudy, remembers my grandmother saying something about John being in the Army and that the Carlisles' were from DE.
The birth year is the same. Now let me explain how I came up with his birth date....My mom says I was about a year old when he died, the obit states he was 70 when he died, if thats correct, so I just deducted the 70 from the year I was one and came up with 1873. It could be wrong.
I am currently working on tracking down the funeral home that handled his burial.Needless to say the one listed in the Obit is the wrong one. I believe I may have found the one but ownership has changed and all their records are archived and they want a $60 fee to pull them even if they are not him. If I do that I should have the exact date of birth and place of death since this is unknown also.
I thank you very much for your help.
talk to you soon, Dawn
