NJ or DE CARLISLE in Mexican War
Can someone out there please help me out!!
In my Gt Grandfather John CARLISLEs' obit, which is very mixed up, it states that he was in the Mexican War.This could not be so for several reasons....
First he was not born until 1873 and second of all it also states that he was in the Army of Occupation in Germany for 3 years after WW1. It also states something about the Civil War. There is no way he was in the Mexican War.
I believe that the Obit should have read that his "father or Grandfather" were in the Mexican War not John T. Carlisle.
I have not been able to find out who Johns parents were only that he was orig. from Succasunna NJ which I have not verified yet. There were family stories that the Carlisles' were from DE orig.
Can any one out there tell me where I could get a full listing of soldiers in the Mexican War or do any of you have any ideas as to how to track this down?
TIA, Dawn Carlisle
