You appear to have a good source for these soldiers. I am searching for a John Needles. Born 1818 and died 1848 in Texas during this war. He may be listed as John Needler, in error, from Champaign County, Ohio volunteers The national archives returned my request with no information. I assume because he was listed as a volunteer.

His children are listed as orphans in the early 1850's in Champaign Co. No wife name is known. The children were Nancy, William and Sarah, thus the wife could have been named Nancy or Sarah.

Thank you.
