Seneca Russell in Mexican War?
Seneca Russell purchased land in Whiteside County, Illinois, on December 9, 1852, apparently using a "MLW." Its number was 297.I suppose that a MLW was a military land warrant. Some of the other warrants on the record book show, apparantly, that the warrant was purchased from someone else, but I see no such entry for Russell's.Was this warrant likely to have been granted for service in the Mexican War?I cannot find a working Internet site that shows a list of U. S. soldiers in that war.Any advice appreciated.
Sincerely,
J. Mitchell
