I am looking for information on Robert William Koehler, born Sept 7, 1925. He enlisted in the US Marine Corp on Aug 2, 1944 in the 6th marine division...platoon K 41st Rep Div. He was a tank crewman at one point, and saw action in Okinawa, Saipan, Ruykus islands
He was on a ship Apr 1, 1945 preparing to attack Okinawa when their ship was hit by a Kamikazi plane and left them sitting ducks in the water for 7 days. I would like to know the name of the ship if possible as well.
Any help would be appreciated
