Mary according to the 5th Marine book , The Spearhead,the WWII regiment was activated on 11Nov 1943 at San Diego Ca. fought in the Pacific and returned to SanDiego and was disbanded there on 5 Feb. 1946. So that 5th Marines were never in Quantico, Va. My stepson was kia with them on Iwo Jima. Your grandfather must of been in a different outfit.
