Usinger family name
Posted by: MARK USINGER (ID *****9548) Date: March 21, 2005 at 11:52:15

My name is Mark Usinger, and my family is from Southern New Jersey. It is my understanding that this branch of the Usingers came from Bavaria in Germany, and were involved in the glassblowing trade. They settled in what is now called Glassboro, New Jersey, as there was ample wood and the special sand required for glassmaking. My father and grandfather were Robert M. Usinger, and came from Bridgton. It is only later in my life that I have learned about this Bavarian connection, particularly since I have grown my beard, which they tell me makes me looks just like the men in the mountains in Bavaria. Any information on the Usinger clan would be greatly appreciated. Best regards,
Mark Usinger
