FTM v.16 - Connecting to Far Separated Relatives
Posted by: Edward Williams (ID *****6282) Date: September 24, 2013 at 12:00:47

I'm currently running FTM v.16 and have over 57,000 connected 'relatives' in my FTM file. Is there an easy way to identify the path of relatives from, say, me to a far distant relative separated by marriage, in-laws, cousins, etc.? For instance, the path of names from me, my father, his father, his wife, her sister, her husband, his brother, his wife, her sister, to her mother's sister: a list of names and relationships, all the way from me to the desired far-distanced relative among the 57,000 individuals?

Sometimes I have an acquaintance who is a FAR removed 'relative' ask "How on earth are we connected?" - I'd like to be able to quickly trace, by name, the connecting relationships and individuals that join us.

Or do I just have to do it the hard way, hunting through the relatives until I hit upon just the right ones who connect us?

Thanks for any helps,

Edward Williams
