Before seeing your 2nd msg, I tried further (results below, merely in case any detail helps); but soon found, as you say, your footprint wherever I searched. Hope you hear from direct family members of the related clans, as your msg states. Good luck. --kc.

I see you have been there--of course:,ellen,covington,wilkes::wilkes::1152.html

As her dates in the PDF file and 1859-1937, this may be Susan Ellen in the 1880 census:
Susan COVINGTON Household

Other Information:
Birth Year <1859>
Birthplace NC
Age 21
Occupation Home
Marital Status S <Single>
Race W <White>
Head of Household Henrietta COVINGTON
Relation Sister
Father's Birthplace NC
Mother's Birthplace NC
Census Place Williamson, Richmond, North Carolina

Four siblings living together:

Name Relation Marital Status Gender Race Age Birthplace Occupation Father's Birthplace Mother's Birthplace
Henrietta COVINGTON Self S Female W 27 NC Keeps House NC NC
Hannah COVINGTON Sister S Female W 22 NC Home NC NC
Susan COVINGTON Sister S Female W 21 NC Home NC NC
Jasper COVINGTON Brother S Male W 23 NC Farming NC NC

The date for Susan is correct, and for Hannah; Henriettaoin the PDF is older than that, and Jasper not listed on the PDF family tree. But this would seem to be the right family, and it names the census town as Williamson, Richmond Co.

the other record, which you've surely seen, lists slightly different children for John Dockery C.(not uncommon in these records, of course--as Jasper wasn't listed in the PDF, either. Also, I note that John Dockery C. was 41 when he married, which may suggest an earlier family, perhaps combined with more children from Susan McEachern, who is a dozen years younger--Susan b. 1859 is 21 years younger than Louisa, your direct ancester, her sister, for instance...probably two sets of children variously listed in records, therefore...)
John Dockery Covington Pedigree
Birth: About 1802 Of, , Richmond, North Carolina
Marriage: About 1843 Of, , Richmond, North Carolina
Death: , Richmond, North Carolina
Susie or Susan McEachern
Birth: About 1814 Of, , , North Carolina
Marriage: About 1843 Of, , Richmond, North Carolina
Death: Of, , , Georgia
1. Amos Covington
Birth: About 1844 Of, , , North Carolina
2. Nenlon Covington
Birth: About 1853 Of, , , North Carolina
3. Unavailable Pedigree
4. Susan Covington
Birth: About 1859 Of, , , North Carolina

(I see there is a Covington Plantation House on the National Register in Richmond Co.:

I see no indication of a Susan/Susan Ellen/Ellen Covington marrying a Wilkes in North Carolina. Could it have been Georgia, where her mother (may have) died? Yet in the 1880 Census Susan Covington is with 3 siblings, unmarried, and in Williamson, Richmond Co. NC.

probably not the Covington line you want, but v. interesting, nonetheless:

Not much, but sending in case any detail is of use.
