Court martial camp Douglas 1873

I located a record for pvt. Frank Dunbar 2nd Calvary company L 1873 "returns" Camp Douglas on ancestry but very hard to read. I found on National Archives site but this also states court martial?
Where may I go to get army service records that are this old?
Does anyone know if these type of records contain vital stat info?
Did the army keep their own census records?
