My large Research around the Veterans involved in the aerial battle that I am studying - and at theyr Families today is addressed to another heavy bomber lost always on Sunday 19 December 1943.

I am yet in a close and very interesting contact with the Pilot Family : KITTY PETERSON and her Son ROBERT IV , California, who is caring for with passion a large Site web in honour of Dad Service in the WWII.

The bomber Flying Fortress Boeing B-17F serial # 42-5409 of the 2nd Bomb Group , 429th Bomb Squadron, was lost during the route back to the Southern Italy , after the bombing of the Marshalling Yards of Innsbruck , Austria.
9 P.O.W. , 1 Killed In Action . The Sgt. Allan Bennett , 19 , 1st war Mission.
See :

I found Jim , a nephew of the KIA Airman but the collaboration was at all disappointing until now.
All the other Officers and the Enlisted Men are still losing.

Here the whole CREW :

Pilot : 2nd Lt. ROBERT DEA PETERSON. 0-680289 .
Co-Pilot : 1st Lt. JAMES H. BELLINGHAM Jr. 0-800313 .
Navigator : 2nd Lt.MARLIN C. BRIGGS 0-736754 .
Bombardier :2nd Lt. JOHN M. HARDIN 0-674761 .
U.T.Gunner : T/Sgt.GEORGE J. WEIMER 13109242 .
L.T. Gunner :S/Sgt. COLIN M. SMITH 39236178 .
R.W.Gunner : S/Sgt. GEORGE T. SMITH Jr . 19141255 .
L.W.Gunner : S/Sgt. LEO R. SCHUMACHER 32361216 .
Tail Gunner : Sgt. ROY K. SNYDER 6945083 .
Radio Operator : S/Sgt. ALLAN BENNETT 148446 5 or 2 . KIA

I can offer to the different Families exact info about the grounds of theyr landings by chute in the Friuli Region , near the historical Town of Palmanova, Udine Province , Northern Italy.
I found the crash place thanks to the kind and decisive help of a German Historiker from Augsburg , Germany . HANS GRIMMINGER. .
I will facilitate every meeting between the different Families , State by State.
I have tales of the young - at time - witnesses , boys and girls , which encountered the Airmen just after the descent in some little villages in the plain , when the Bomber was in fire and with a lot of other problems of flight.
The Missing Air Crew Report # 1519 has every clear info about this event.
The aircraft was hit by a German Pilot of the J.G. 51 ( Fighter Group ) .

I request the help of all the Relatives and the Historians and Researchers who are interested to save the Memory of Events never before got into thoroughly but never forgotten in the life of the Flyers protagonist.

I await every touch , name & address., info , document , picture , tale from the Americans sensible about the Air Force Story in the 2nd World War.
Thanks a lot .
