Jim, See, the Air Force training we received really did pay off! Myself, I seriously think that if I'd gotten the AFRTS gig that I originally wanted (especially in radio), I definitely would have stayed in until I retired. As it was, I returned to Texas, decided that I'd had enough of the heat, humidity and flat land, and tried to make a go of it up in Colo. Springs. I didn't have a college degree then and it ate my lunchita. It's no wonder that so many people who live up there have to work 2-3 jobs just to pay the bills. Anyway, got fed up and returned to Austin, got a couple of degrees at the U. of Texas, and ended up as a staff writer for a large agency for the State of Texas. Hey, the pay was decent, no weekends, no nights, and adequate holidays, so it was a good time. Retired at 52 in 2005, got bored at home after 24 mos. and am now doing admin work back at my old alma mater. Life's like that: You think it's going to go this way, but you usually end up somewhere else! Notify Administrator about this message?
