Pacific Theater

My dad fought in the Pacific Theater. He was in the 4th Air Depot Group and went to Townsville, Australia, New Guinea, and Leyte. His name is James S. Benefield. He also flew on bombing missions with the 5th Air Force as a gunner and a radio operator. One of those missions resulted in the plane going down on the beach at Leyte. He was wounded and lost a finger. He never knew if the rest of the crew survived or not. All I know is that the crash probably happened sometime in either 1943 or 1944. I'm looking to find out more about the crash and someone who might have known him. If anything looks familiar, I'd appreciate hearing from you. Thanks,

Melissa
