Searching for Thomas Cox's and Ramona Barrios's family records

Hello everyone,

I have been searching for my ancestors' records from Uruguay for some time now. The records I am most interested in finding are for a Thomas/Tomas Cox, who supposedly moved to Uruguay from New Zealand to take a job as an architect. Originally, he was from the British Isles, but I still do not know his birthdate or exact birthplace. Does anyone know any way to search for records of ship passengers from New Zealand to Uruguay during the 1800s? His wife's name was Carmen Bernal, who I think was from Italy, if that helps.

Also, I'm searching for records of the parents of Ramona Barrios, born 1862 in Montevideo. Which sites are good for locating Uruguay genaeological records? I've searched but seem to be coming up short, and it's difficult to tell if I've found the right ancestors or not, since Barrios seems to be a common last name.

If anyone could help me with these inquiries, I'd appreciate it!

-Callista
