Davini is not listed in the Italian surname dictionary which signifies tha the surname is either loca in origin or imported from abroad and Italianized. If local in oriin it is usually based on some anecdeotal occupation, activity, nickname etc.

Further there is no Davini listed in the Italian Genealogical Society (www.genmarenostrum.com/join.htm) nor in www.stemmario.it so perhaps the surname had another spelling or another prefix of some sort.

The www.familysearch.org lists Davini as being in Spanin and Ireland earlier than Italy which might be correct since te Davini name could then have easily been imported into Italy. Petertimber
