Thomas N. Leighton,, b. Scotland shipownercame to Uruguay

Thomas N. Leighton and his wife, Mary S., came to Montevideo, Uruguay and had 4 children there. I believe he was a shipowner and cotton agent. He probably died in Uruguay as his wife and children are listed in Scotland in the 1901 census.

Jeffrey b. 1880
Arthur b. 1882
Mariel b. 1885
Evelyn b. 1887

If anyone can tell me about this family of what may have been happening during this time period, I would be most grateful.
