here is what i know about our Basque surname.
The one from the other side of the mountain<--- is what Urrutia is in the Basque language.
The mountain referred to is the Pyrenees. The mountain that seperates France and Spain.

All I know about my family is that my great G' 'pa was born in northern Mexico. As a boy he worked around trains . He carried buckets of water on his shoulders; thus stunting his heigth. Married a French noble girl. The girls' family soon disowned her. Great G' 'pa moved his young family up through Mexico and into the USA. Castle Rock, Colorado is the birth place of my G' 'pa. The year was 1922. G' 'pa fled USA during WWII; headed for Mexicali, Baja, Mexico. G' 'pa died this year in December. The old fart kept telling everyone during his last 2 years of his life that we were Basque; the funny thing is is that nobody knew what the hell he was talking about.
If anything here served you well....... .....thats cool.
