Hi. My husband's family is from Puerto Rico, but they originally came from Spain. His grandfather, Enrique, was reportedly one of the first 10 men from Puerto Rico who became soldiers in the U.S. Army, but there was a family rift and he lost contact with his family, which was apparently large and well-to-do, as in for example, they were given a slave when he married. He married someone named Pura De la Cruz Urrutia, an orphan who had come from Spain, and their son, Mike's dad, was Enrique Guillermo de la cruz Urrutia Urrutia,(later Henry William) and he became a U.S. military officer as well for thirty years. Unfortunately, both he and his sister, Aida, have been dead for many years, having died young. We are interested in other possible members of this family, so if anything rings a bell, let us know. enrique would have been born either in 1884 or so. Thanks.
