AL to TX - who do they belong to??
Hi all,
I am in some real need of help here. After talking with Marsha on the
descendants of Alexander Urquhart and Louisa Barnett, I am faced with
a puzzle that has me stumped. And I am hoping one of you may have some
answers.

We appear to have two Amanda Urquharts showing up in Washington
Co, TX...
Co, TX...
One is the daughter of Alexander, which Marsha shows to
have married 25 Nov 1884 to Hillary Hurt Doran. Her sources on this
info is considerable; and why I am rethinking all my conclusions.

Then there is my Amanda, who married James F Redmon of Pike
Co, AL.My mother-in-law told me years ago that her grandmother
was Amanda Urquhart (she was unsure of the spelling), her cousin confirmed
this and the spelling of Urquhart. And in the 1880 census of Washington Co,
TX it shows James Redmon age 33 AL, wife Amanda 27 AL, dau Mary 2 AL,
and living with them Joe Urquhart age 15 AL (shown to be his brother-in-law).
The Mary age 2 is unknown to the family, and is therefore assumed to have
died young??Amanda died in childbirth in 1886, so we have only the one
census on her.James Redmon remarried a widow Mary Williams in 1897; she
was also from AL (In the 1900 Collin Co, TX. census James and Mary have
living with them aH. Edgar Williams age 22 AL. stepson, and Mae Williams
step daughter-in-law age 21 Iowa).

So, I have little doubt that I am searching for an Amanda Urquhart... the
question is who does she belong to??Years ago I had assumed (shame, shame)
that she was Alexander’s Amanda, and haven’t ever thought to question this
assumption until Marsha wrote me.Alexander didn’t show to have a Joe but, I had
believed it may have been a middle name. So, this Joe Urquhart is probably the key.
The family thought that Joe Urquhart (and maybe other family members??) had
moved to Greenville, TX.Who is this Joe and Amanda Urquhart??
Help!!
