Seeking info about the URQUHART family of Salford and Manchester, Lancashire I descend from Robert Urquhart (1826-1878) of Salford and Manchester. He married Fanny WOODMAN in Manchester in 1868 and they had three children born there (Ada, Henry and Frederick.) They were then listed in Salford in the 1871 census (at 97 Slater St.), where they baptised two more children, Ethel and Beatrice, at the St. Bartholomew church in Salford in 1874 and 1877 (when he was living on Gloucester St.) He died in Salford in April 1878. His occupation was listed as a Market Constable or Market Inspector, and he was listed in 1871 as a Greenwich Pensioner (which I understand means that he served in the Navy.) Family legend says he came from Inverness, although records state he was born in Lancashire. I found a reference to a Robert Urquhart of about the right age living in Salford in a 1841 census index, but I can't find it on Ancestry for some reason. Do you have any URQUHART family in Salford or Manchester in the 1800s? Thanks for any tips! Chris cbaer@vineyard.net Notify Administrator about this message?
