The Truth About Norman Uruqhart's Parents!!!!!!
Posted by: Ray Urquhart (ID *****5788) Date: November 29, 2011 at 01:12:16

I hope all you Urquhart researchers are still monitoring this genforum site. I wonder what right anyone has to post or publish something that has not been documented. Many, many postings and publications has listed Norman Urquhart's parents as Donald Urquhart and Margaret Fraser. Simple: Show me proof!!!!!!! Just because you find a record that a Henry Urquhart and Alexander Urquhart has been born to Donald Urquhart and Margaret Fraser does not mean they are the parents of our Norman Urquhart and his possible brother, Henry Urquhart. First, the naming patterns alone, which the Scottish are noted for, does not substantiate Donald Urquhart being the father. In fact, there are no known close off-spring of Norman's (or his suspect brother Henry) that are named Donald. Does that alone not raise questions??????????? Second, who has proven that Norman Urquhart and Henry Urquhart are brothers??????????. I personally believe they are but still have no proof. Third, why is everybody believing that Cumberland Co. Henry Urquhart is New Hanover Co. Henry Urquhart?????? The Henry Urquhart suspected to be Norman Urquhart's brother is listed in the 1790 Cumberland Co. census but the New Hanover Co. Henry Urquhart has property for lease as early as 1788 and in 1790 shown in newspaper accounts that he is from Wilmington, New Hanover Co. Does this not indicate they are two separate Henry's???????? Does everybody believe that Henry Urquhart of Cumberland Co. just walked out on his family and re-married in New Hanover Co. even though he still had a wife (as indicated in land records) and children in Cumberland Co. But, of course, it is easy to surmise that, since Cumberland Co. Henry is listed in 1790 census and not the 1800 census at the same time Wilmington Henry shows up in the 1800 census, the two may be the same. Show me proof!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wilmington, New Hanover Henry seems to be a person of knowledge and possibly an attorney or a very knowledgeable person with legal experience. The Cumberland Co. Henry did not even file his land deeds according to law!!!! The same person????????? Come on folks, show proof when you post something as fact!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All the publications on the web showing Norman Urquhart's parent as Donald Urquhart and Margaret Fraser are being taken for granted by the newer researchers in genealogy. That information will be multiplied many times over erroneously. Get real, be honest with facts and yourselves and stop the posting and publishing unproven facts. You know who you are. Enough said. Thank you
