On familysearch.org are two birth records for children of a John Anderson and a Janet Urquhart:
John Anderson was born June 14, 1857 in Rosemarkie, Ross & Cromarty.
Alexander Anderson was born Nov. 7, 1858 in Rosemarkie, Ross & Cromarty.
Rosemarkie is right next door to Fortrose, on the Black Isle, which is right across the firth from the town of Inverness.
In the 1841 and 1851 Inverness census for my William Urquhart and his wife Ann McLeod, Janet was not part of their household. I do not believe that she had died, so she would have been living elsewhere.
You can look at a few Canadian census for free on automatedgenealogy.com. I found the following family in the April 1-2, 1901 census in Seymour, Northumberland East, Ontario, Canada:
John Anderson, head, married, Aug. 6, 1830, age 70, born Scotland, immigration 1840, farmer
Vurgruhert Anderson, wife, married, May 13, 1826, age 74, born Scotland, immigration 1840
John Anderson, son, married, June 14, 1857, age 43, born Ontario, farmer
Mary Anderson, wife, married, Feb. 16, 1868, age 33, born Ontario, dressmaker
George Anderson, son, April 6, 1894, age 6, born Ontario
Jane Anderson, dau, June 13, 1896, age 4, born Ontario
Obviously, the enumerator is attempting to write Urquhart Anderson. But the immigration year of 1840, and John junior's birthplace of Ontario are suspect.
John, 60, and Jennet, 64, Anderson, with son John, 33, all born in Scotland, are in Seymour in the 1891 census. No immigration date was asked for in this census.
So, there is a possibility that my Janet is the same Janet above.
There is an Anderson family in Seymour in the 1881 census with John, 50, Janet, 51, John, 21, Alexander, 19, and Jane, 76, all born in Scotland. This Anderson family appears in Seymour in the 1871 census with John, 40, George, 25, Isabella, 30, Alexander, 13, and Jane, 66. All born in Scotland. It is difficult to determine if this is the same family that we have in 1891 and 1901. They are in Percy, Northumberland in the 1861 census, and John is married to Barbary, and there is no John Jr. and Alexander included in this family.
