Urquhart in West Australia
My ancestor, (Captain) John Urquhart, was born in Limehouse (London) in 1822 (his father was Captain William)and captained for the 'West India Company' and then for 'Richard and Henry Green Co.' on their clipper ships out of Blackwall. He was wrecked in the Formosa Strait sometime between 1852 and 1863, most probably during the latter part of this period. He ended up in Perth, W.A., no later than 1863. There he married Sarah Ann Kenworthy in 1872. It appears they had no children. John was Secretary of the Swan River (i.e. Perth) Mechanics Institute as well as Curator of their museum. He died in April 1885 in Perth. Sarah Ann (sometimes Ann Sarah) died in January, 1914.
I would like to know about the shipwreck and about when he arrived in Australia, and where.
Thanks
