Seeking Urquhart information
My 92 year old mother's maiden name was Urquhart and I am trying to find information about her side of my family.
Her father: Robert Urquhart - was in the Royal West Kents D.O.B. abt. 12/25/1874, I believe in Scotland; D.O.D. Abt. 1922
Her mother's maiden name: Louisa Martin D.O.B. 8/1/1873; D.O.D. Abt 1952
Mother's maternal grandmother's surname: Golding
My mother's birth name: Violet Mercy Urquhart (now Mercia Violet Tillman); her first husband was Ralph Stewart; issue, Malcolm Keith b. 10/5/41 Manchester, England. Second husband, William Merritt Tillman, b. 10/19/25 Annapolis, MD, m. 8/30/47 in Germany, issue (me) Debra Louise b. 5/10/53.
My mother was born and raised in Chatham, Kent, England D.O.B. 12/11/1914 born at home: 253 Castle Road, Luton, Chatham, Kent.
Her father apparently died due to problems stemming from mustard gas poisoning during WWI when she was 8, so I also presume that year to be approximately 1922.
I believe her mother passed away in 1952 at around age 79.
Mom always mentioned her maternal grandfather (maybe great grandfather) being an out-rider to King George III and that her maternal uncle, Quiller Martin, being the organist in Canterbury Cathedral for a while.
Unfortunately many of the things she has told me during my life have proven to be a little delusional, which is sad, but I would like to gather some viable info if possible.
My mother had several siblings - she was the youngest surviving child in the family - all were born in England and are now deceased:
Louise (who married Wilfred Maberley, lived and died in Windsor, Ontario, Canada in the 80s or 90s), Ella (died in England during the 60s), Harold Cecil (died in England but I am not sure when; I do know it was after 1983). Mom also spoke of twin children named Robert & Mary who died very soon after their birth due to physical complications; they died prior to my mother's birth.
Mother attended Grove Road School for a while and her best friend was Lilly Middleton.
Mother also mentions being sent into servitude as a child - to a Dr. & Mrs. Humphries (possibly spelled Humphreys) in London and that he had some connection by friendship to Lord Carnarvon of Tutankhamen's tomb fame. Whether this is true, once again I do not know for certain.
I know her brother Harold married a woman named Margaret (lived at 1st Mildreds Way, Heysham, Morecambe Lancashire, England) and had a son, Ron Urquhart, who lived at 147 Bradford Rd., Brighouse, Yorkshire, England. He married and had a son, Bruce.
If anyone can assist me in obtaing further info about my maternal side of the family I sure would appreciate it.
