Vince, the Urquhart Clan has a website.Go there and look at "Descendants of Norman & Janet (Bethune) Urquhart".It states:"Norman came to North Carolina from Isle of Skye, Scotland (According to Charles Urquhart). However, in an article written by Carolyn Boone, it is stated that Norman, Henry and Alexander Urquhart left Cromarty and sailed to Wilmington, N.C. on the ship Baliol, one of the last two ships to reach America before the Revolution.Traveling with them were the McLeods and the Bethunes."
Also, another of Nancy & _____McCleod was named Jannett McCleod. In the same website, the name is McLeod and also McCleod. This may be the same document you found your information. If so, excuse this.
I am the great granddaughter of Julia Ann (Urquhart) Goolsby. She is the daughter of Rev. Norman Alford Urquhart, son of Alexander A. Urquhart, son of John Urquhart, son of Norman & Janet (Bethune) Urquhart.
So many of these people were born in N.C., but migrated to AL.Some came through GA, then to AL during or after the Civil War. A good many were buried in the Urquhart Cemetery in Montgomery Co., AL.That is in a community very close to Andalusia, called Rose Hill.Possibly you can find some of your people there, also.I hope I have given you some "NEW" information.
