I am interested in the spelling of your ancestors name, U'ren.
Having received my late uncle's Record of Service from the NZ Army, (Thomas WELLS b.1915, Rakiaia New Zealand states that when he enlisted his home address was:
C/- U'REN (spelt exactly like that with a apostrophe between the U and the R), Whakatu, Rural Delivery (R.D.) Hastings, New Zealand.
It may be that he was simply boarding with the U'REN's but also possible that they are relatives. Other surnames in the family, that I have managed to find are :
WELLS, GOULDS (GOLDS) GOODYER (GOODGER) GROVE WILLIS (WILLS) GROVE RECKNALL SEARLES
The reason that I don't know a lot about my father's relatives is because when they were little their mother died and the four boys were put into a Children's Home in Timaru, New Zealand and their baby sister was brought up by cousins-in-law the RECKNALL's.
Love to hear if there are any connections .
