John,

To match your direct relations to any records with any degree of certainty would require more information. However, I do have record of a Cecil born in Canada around 1902. He had a brother named Milton, but no siblings are known to have the names Paul or Katherine. Perhaps with more information, I could be of more help there.

I can, however, help with John C. Upton. His middle name was Cunningham. He served in the 5th Texas Regiment and was killed in the infamous Second Battle of Manassas. Upton County in Texas is named after John and his brother, William Felton Upton, who also served with the Confederacy in the Civil War. John was a hero in the Civil War, and is the main subject of a painting by the well known Civil War artist, Don Troiani, entitled "Second Battle of Manassas." I can send you a digital copy of the print made from the painting if you like. There is a memorial plaque dedicated to the brothers at Upton County seat in Rankin, TX.
