Rob,
I have done quite a bit of research on the descendants of John Upton, and walked a number of cemeteries in the Salem, Peabody, North Reading area. I have yet to find, in my research or my walks, the burial plot of Daniel or any of his family members, including his father.
Actually, your note is the first I have seen that he took his own life. Can you tell me where you found this information? I would very much appreciate seeing any information you have on Daniel.
In case you haven't already come across it, there is a book called "Other Merchants and Sea Captains of Old Boston", published in 1919 that mentions Daniel and his brother George Bruce Upton, Jr. It has a very interesting passage on Daniel's merchant marine days.
