Sorry Amy, but your WV Uptons are not related to General Emory
Upton. Gen. Upton was from NY and a part of an Upton family that settled in Salem, MA in the 1650's. Your Uptons came from Maryland and settled in western Virginia in the 1790s.
Gen Upton was an interesting individual, but there is a lot of interesting history for your Upton family also. If you would like to contact me directly, I will send you some pages from the 3000 page Upton Encyclopedia which I publish.
