On above posting, "Captain Joseph Updegraff-5th Infantry,
is ordered to be founder of 'Fort Sumner' NM, November
30, 1852"... I came back to give you, more details as to
how you might find this information on the internet---
Type in your search-blank, these words.....
"Fort Union, NM:Fort Union and the Frontier Army of the
Southwest" Then, scroll down to the 4th web-site,where
you can see at the bottom- (santafetrailresearch.com)
Now you're at the right web-page! Find "Contents", and
then go to Chapter 5, Page 5, and click on page 5, and
now scroll down on quite a ways, until you see a "Blue"
reference number--(#256)... In those lines, you will find
the "Captain Joseph Updegraff"--where someone may finally
discover the 'Place, Date, & Military Status' that he
was in--during the American Civil-War! I hope that this
information breaks down someone's "Brick-wall"! Cheers!
