Thanks, I am familiar with the various spellings from Op den Graeff on. I appreciate the census info. What I still need is some proof that the John in Hellam Twp in 1830 is the son of Peter and that he is the same John who appears in 1850 York and who I have proven to be my 3greats grandfather.

I don't just want to latch on to a name, I need to find something that shows the relationship. Does anyone have any land records or estate/deed records that show that the Peter who died c 1823, and who married a Franey and had a son John H. is the father of the John who is on the 1850 census???? The Peter listed in 1830 appears to be a different one from the Peter who was the son of Harman?

Thanks,

Marguerite
