THE WAY THAT THE CENSUS, WHO TRANSCRIBED THE NAMES INTO THE RECORDS WEATHER IT BE IN YORK, LYCOMING COUNTY IN THE BEGINNING OF THIS COUNTRY, THE NAMES WERE SPELLED THE WAY IF SOUNDED, THAT IS THE REASON THAT THERE IS AROUND ABOUT 32 WAYS TO SPELL UPDEGRAFF. AND UPDEGROVE IS PART OF THE OPDENGRAEFF/ UPDEGRAFF FAMILY.
IN MY STUDY ON PETER, THERE IS TWO PETER'S THAT SHOW UP ON THE CENSUS OVER NEAR
CENTRE COUNTY, BECAUSE THE PETER IN MY LINE I BELEAVE CAME UP THROUGH UNION AND NORTHUMBERLAND TO LYCOMING COUNTY, THERE HE WAS A SHOEMAKER.
