Benton & Upson Machinery Warehouse

A panoramic map of Jacksonville Florida in 1893 shows a warehouse on the river front with the above label.

My great great grandparents were John Benton and Polly Upson of CT. They then moved to OH in 1814. The owners of the warhouse were Delevan P. Upson and Geore W. Benton in 1890, and then Delevan along with Mrs. L.W. Benton in 1891 thru 93.

I have found a long way around relationship of Delevan to Polly Upson, a third cousin twice removed, but I have no information on the family of this George W. Benton, or what I assume to be his wife and widow, Mrs. L.W. Benton.

Anyone have any information about this company and it's owners?

For the record, John and Polly's son, my great grandfather, was also George W. Benton. He was a doctor, going by the name Washington Benton and lived with his family in Jacksonville from about 1853 to 1866. They are in the 1860 Duval Co. census. He moved the family to SC in 1866 and died in 1879.
