According to the Upson Family Genealogy Lois was the daughter of Horatio and Hannah (Cook) Upson. Horatio was born 21 Aug 1777 at Southington CT. He died 12 Dec 1849 in Tallmadge, OH. He married in Waterbury, CT Hannah Cook the daughter of Moses and Jemima (Upson) Cook. Jemmima (Upson) Cook was a descendant of Stephen Upson. Hannah was born on 05 Mar 1776 in Waterbury and died in Tallmadge, Oh. on 22 Feb 1841. Horatio was a shoemaker. Horatio served Connecticut in the War of 1812 under Capt. John Buckingham as did his brother John Upson. The children of Horatio and Hannah were: 1. Elias b. 16 Dec 1797, m. Orra Blakeslee. 2. Charles b. 26 Jan 1800 m. Emma Clark. 3. Lois b. 22 Mar 1802 m. William Church, in 1940 her surviving children were, Henry, G. Watson and Mrs. Charles Proctor. 4. Edwin b. 21 May 1804 m. Betsy Blakelee. 5. Jennette b. 18 Dec 1806 m Herman K. Parsons. 6. Frederick b. 07 Sep 1809 m. 1st Mary Towers and 2nd Deborah Powers. 7. Lucy b. 24 Jul 1812 m. Harvey Strong. 8. William b. 08 Aug 1815. 9. George b. 21 Jul 1819 who served as a sergeant in the U.S. Regulars in the Mexican War. The line od descent goes: Thomas Upson (the immigrant father), Stephen Upson, John Upson, John Upson, Horatio Upson and then Lois Upson. Much is written in this genalogy about the ancestors of Horatio Upson.
