I have in my possession an autograph book, presented to Martha Upham by a friend. There are many poems and messages in the book, and many are from New Carlisle, Indiana. Most messages were written in the 1840s. I may have found this person on the 1850 census in St. Joseph County, Indiana. If this is the right person, she was born in New Hampshire in about 1820.In 1850 she is living with a family surnamed Hood. Does anyone know about her?
