Your message was very interesting. My grandmother was Bessie Sarah Adams, daughter of Nancy Rosina (Upham) Adams and James Green Adams. Grandma was born in Brookfield, Mass March 2, 1863. After her mother died, she was legally adopted by Sewell S. Lemon. Her Father James Green Adams was a Civil War soldier and he lived to be 88 He died at Douglas, Mass Dec. 12, 1920. He was born in Willington, Ct, but his birth was never recorded. I knew my Grandmother very well. My father, Winslow Brewster Standish Avery, was her youngest child. Bessie married Henry Benton Avery in Exeter,N. H. Jan 1, 1881. After his death she married Walter John Burby. I have the line of my Grandmother on the Upham side. It is Cyrus, Nathan, Joseph, Thomas, Phineas, John (Born in Devon England) So you can see that, indeed, Nancy Rosina Upham did have a descendant. I would love to have some connection to some of my Grandmother's side. I have loads of connection to all the Avery's, but none I know of from the Upham side. So very nice of you to reply to my message. I am very elderly and I think things such as this need to be recorded so they do not get lost. The fact that Grandma was adopted has presented quite a few problems because at times people look for Bessie Lemon and do not make the connection. Notify Administrator about this message?
