My wife's gg-grandfather was Ezekiel Compton of Mercer County, NJ. Ezekiel (b. 1838) had a brother George (b. 1840). Their parents were Barnard and Ann Compton. Barnard and Ann died sometime in the 1840's. In the 1850 census, George is living in Hopewell Township with the family of Theodore and Emeline Updike; Ezekiel is with the family of John and Mary Terhune, also in Hopewell. I believe that it is possible that both the Updikes and the Terhunes were related to the Comptons by marriage. Does anyone have any information on this group of families that would shed light on this?
